I recently got to speak with Adam, the creator and purveyor behind the internationally known; slamxhype.blogspot.com.
Adam became a master in all aspects of design from living in Japan,
and London for the past 10 years!
In you own words, can you explain the connection to sneakers and the toy scene?
I
suppose at the end of the day it comes from just being a total
hype junkie. I was one of those kids at school that always had to have
the
latest Jordans, saving my lunch money for new kicks, pestering
my mum for toys everytime we had to go shopping. I ended up studying
fashion
and working in the industry as a stylist, working in Japan
and London, it taught me allot about pop culture and pretty much ever
since I've
been obsessed with Japanese fashion, Kicks, figures and anything!
What would the "diamonds" of your collection
be?
As far as kicks go, I spend way too ,much money on kicks, and I suppose I have some shoes that I would consider 'Diamond', I love anything with a collabortation involved, that goes for kicks, clothes and toys.. It just seems to have a real quality about it, showing that 2 companies the best in their own way combined together to make something even better. My undefeated dunks, my nort Talaria's, my nbhd superstars, medicom sb's, kid robot am90's, all my htm's... I wear all my kicks so nothing gets special treatment though.. having said that.. if or when I get some FLOM's they will be worn EVERYDAY!
So the new site is coming,
www.slamxhype.com , can you drop any secrets on us?
It's getting
pretty exciting, i just started the blog as a way to have some fun and
filter
some of the info on the web for peeps, but interest has grown
hugely and so to has my enthusiasm for it. The new site is coming very
soon,
and we are trying to keep the design really simple to make
sure the content is still the main focus. I don't know if there are
any "secrets'
to give away, but we have some exciting interviews and features
all to come when we launch, and some very good relationships with one
or
wo very large sneaker sites to announce too, as well as promotions
with retailers, competitions, giveaways, and our own Futura News Section!

Is this site your full time gig? What else do you do?
I wish it was! and it does take up most my time at the moment! I still work as a stylist part time and also work as a consultant to local retailers, helping them with PR and Marketing and in store procedures etc. I am also in the process of starting my own tee shirt line, we have a few retailers lined up and will launch very soon! I suppose because I work for myself, thats what gives me the time to update the site regularly, but one day SALM! will become a full time gig.. I am gonna make sure of it!
These Shirts will be available once the new www.slamxhype.com site drops. They are a
collaboartion between slam and South African graffiti artists Zulu!!!!
